Today was the day, FINALLY!
We saw Dr Awilda Wilson, a Homeopathic Natural Dr here in Rogers. (She used to be a surgical Oncology nurse.) We showed her the pictures of his colonoscopy and she explained a lot to us as well as gave us some really good advice as far as questions to ask the surgeon / oncologist. She said when we had a protocol to get back with her and she could help us with the "health" building immune system, healing and making sure that it didn't come back.
An hour later we saw the surgeon Dr Treptow. He was Ronda's surgeon. He was very thorough and explained everything in detail and did a rectal exam. (Yeah, THAT went over well NOT!!!) He couldn't feel the tumor which can be good. They will give chemo and do radiation to shrink the tumor then do surgery. He needs a 2 cm perimeter around the tumor to be able to do a resection. From what he can tell right now Doug has a 50-60% chance of being able to be resected. (No ostomey bag) So obviously we are praying that way. Doug liked him and we were straight up about our concerns, doctors not communicating with one another etc. We requested Dr Travis (again Ronda's Oncologist with whom she credits with saving her life) and told him the Radiation doctor we did NOT want. I don't know if Ronda went thru what she did for this purpose, but she's just a wealth of information, God Bless her!
So Doug is to get a CAT scan and the Oncologist office is to call him within the next day or two so we can get scheduled and hopefully get this ball rolling. The time schedule once we get started is 4-6 weeks chemo / radiation then a break for 4-6 weeks then the surgery. That is a very "loose" time frame, having not seen the oncologist. Still lots going on, Doug just wants to get this show on the road! Thank you all for continuing to pray. We have peace and definitely feel your prayers. Thank you so much.
Love you all Jan
