Dr Treptow came in this afternoon. He said Dr Ayers had called him yesterday afternoon to ask if he minded if she consulted with Dr Bandy (the infectious disease specialist.) That's why all that happened. Dr Bandy hadn't put any notes on the chart yet so no info as to what his protocol is going to be. Dr Treptow guessed he would want to do a course of 4 weeks of IV antibiotics and weekly blood draws. His SED rate needs to be 20 and dropped from 61 to 58 in 2 days. So Dr T. said "as you can see it's got a long way to go." The tentative plan right now is to see what Dr Bandy suggests, get Doug over this and schedule the outpatient procedure during the time he is still on the antibiotics. Unless God intervenes sooner then we will see. No, he didn't say that :)
We will probably be here through the weekend and get to go home early next week. Dr Treptow wants us to finish the course of antibiotics he is on. The case manager did mention one of the IV antibiotics he is on is $2000 for 10 days. Ummmm, yeah. God is in control.
Time to go for a walk. And maybe I'll do 6 flights of stairs. :)
Love you all!
Jan, Doug and Eric
