Happy Birthday to my BFF Rhonda!  :)  Glad you could catch up with me!

Friday night was a repeat of the previous night but we will take it!  We had a nurse that was one of our very first nurses, back when he had the surgery on Dec 4th.  Clarissa was super.  :)

Saturday morning Clarissa came in and said she was supposed to pull his catheter.  So, we thought "here we go again!"  She tried to deflate the balloon and it wouldn't deflate.  She said she'd never seen that before and decided she would just leave it and let the doctor take a look.

Dr Bandy (the infection dr) came in and said his numbers looked "super!"  His SED rate dropped from 58 to 49.  We are looking for somewhere in the 20's for his normal.  Also that he would probably be going home on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks most likely twice per day and would most likely get a PICC line before leaving the hospital.  However all of the culture tests are not back yet so none of that is set in stone.


About an hour later our new nurse Melanie came in and gave it a try.  She was able to deflate it no problem and pulled it.  Pray this works because it would sure stink to have to have another one (6) inserted.

We immediately got up and walked which was much more pleasurable for both of us!  I got him back in bed and settled and I went home (around 11:30) for a shower and cleaned to fridge, etc and hung out with Eric.  He is such a good kid, we sure are blessed to have been chosen to be his parents.  :)

I got back to the hospital around 4, and he was ready to get out of that bed!  We walked again, got settled and the hospitalist Doctor (Woodard?) came in.  Said everything looked good and I asked her if they needed to be using his central line for the antibiotics (they've been using the port.)  Last we were told the port "might" be compromised and other than 4am blood draws it's been left alone.  She said they'd determined thru tests the port was fine.  So he's got these 3 tubes kind of just "hanging" out the side of his neck.  Sure wish they would take it out, other than his back that's the only side he can sleep on due to the butt drain and ileostomy.  Poor guy, I just want him to be able to get a little more comfortable! 

The weather here is supposed to turn cold, possibly a low of 16 tonight.  I know, you people in Wisconsin are wishing for that aren't you? One of the nurses is from Wisconsin and she said her daughter and son in law are going to the Packers game.  It's supposed to be -50.  That's just nuts (she thinks so too!)   Bless you, and keep it there ok?  It was 44 when I came back and spitting rain.  I do hope that quits.

That's the great news from the 6th floor of the Mercy Health spa. 

We would love to not have to do home IV antibiotics.  Would you pray with us that his body will respond enough to be able to take oral?  (Or not at all would be awesome!)
