Saturday at the Mercy Health Spa

Saturday we were pleasantly surprised to a cheerful "good morning" from our Stacia.   If you have to be in the hospital, it's sure nice to have a great nurse!  Then comes our CNA Patty.  We had her on our previous stay and she is a peppy little Hispanic girl I call our cheerleader.  When Doug is walking she does a little cheer in the hallway.  Sweet girls, we were blessed have them.

Doug was sooo much better on Saturday.  It was an emotional day for both of us as we came to the realization just how close he had come to going into a downhill spin.   God still has plans for Doug and they must be big because the enemy sure tried to take him out.   Sounds like my son!

He still has wire leads all over his chest and is being monitored "downstairs."  If he has any heart issues they immediately contact the nurse.  However, he's not had any issues since Friday P.T.L. !

Doug walked twice on Saturday.  The first time was about 20 feet, but hey he walked!  Considering he hasn't been out of that bed since Thursday night I'd say he did pretty well.  He got a bed change and I gave him a bed bath.  After that he was exhausted.  He walked in the evening as well and was cheered on by another of our previous nurses, Kelly who was working the other end of the hall.

He's been eating pretty well all things considered.  A little at a time.  The food here isn't bad :)

I went home Saturday morning for a shower.  The band had practiced Friday night (good times:) so when 5 guys hang out, well, a little sweeping is in order.  Doug said "I hope they had a good time."  And we both agree and mean that.  Love these guys and their commitment to each other and the Lord :)

Eric came up to hang with us for awhile before he went to church.  Thank you Mosiac for supporting our son.  :)

Dr Bingham is the hospitalist following Doug while he's here.  Doug expressed that he wasn't getting much sleep and asked for something.  So Saturday night he had his Percocet at 9:15, then we check his vitals at 10pm to make sure his blood pressure hadn't dropped.  (Friday night his b.p. went low after pain meds.)   He was fine so at 10:25 he took Restoral and Dr Bingham gave orders for him to be left alone unless he called.  They did that but he just laid there unable to sleep for at least 2 hours.
So he finally called the nurse and by that time it was time for more pain meds and she was also able to give him Ativan.  Bless his heart he did get some sleep then.  He's so funny, I would just about be asleep and he'd say "honey, are you awake?"  Yes dear, I am now :)

We are humbled and so extremely thankful for you and your prayers for us.

Onward and upward from here!

Jan
