Sunday was actually a pretty good day overall. We both slept fairly well, he ate well, tolerated most meds ok. Until late afternoon they gave him an iv antibiotic and just pushed it too fast. He got hot and was really uncomfortable. We walked and that helped some. He couldn't even eat his supper. The day nurse made sure the night nurse knew to run it over 2 hours rather than one. It really discouraged him because he was feeling pretty good, physically and had a more positive attitude than I've seen in awhile.
Eric and I got to go out to Red Robin (after Doug was feeling better.) It was nice to get out and do something "normal!"
On Monday Dr Treptow came in and said they had identified the infections (still waiting on one culture) and Doug was started on 2 new antibiotics that both come in pill form so we will be able to continue them at home. He elected to delay the procedure to repair the resection until later in the week as scheduling is an issue as well. He'd like the infection to continue to drain, and stay on the antibiotics. He will remove the drain when he does the repair. He said we might get to go home tomorrow! :)
He also wanted the catheter pulled while he was in here so we can make sure he is having success before going home. Versus having to come back for re-insertion.....been there done that!
They just pulled (the 4th) catheter and it went as well as can be expected! :)
The success of the bladder working would be extremely helpful in the mental, emotional and physical aspect of this day.....week......month. Pray for pee!
Thank you for your continued prayers. The journey to complete wholeness and healing continues.
Love you all.
Jan
