We got home about 11:30 last night and sooo glad to be here. We had a restful night Thursday night and started Friday at ACH getting another blood draw (platelet count was now down to 10,000) drinking the contrast (mixed w/apple juice) for an 11am CT scan. We got in about noon. Finished that & went to clinic. There were soooo many getting chemo and such! We got a room in the corner and they started with IV benedryl and 2 doses of Tylenol to pre-treat for possible side effects. Then he got 4 or 5 bottles of IVig's which took 45 minutes each then a flush after. They took his temp and blood pressure every 15 min to start then 30 then every hour. At first the nurse said he could go to the playroom which would have been fine with him (to play the new X-box 360 on the 27" flat screen) but then she came back in and said they told her that wouldn't be a good idea. He was not a happy camper! So he basically watched TV all day, didn't want to play a board game, couldn't get the portable tv/play station to work so.......? It got better when the History channel came on with the Civil War stuff. We were finished at 8pm, the last ones out of clinic. Thanks nurse Sherie, you were great! The CT scan showed some lymph nodes in his belly which she said is normal. Just being clinic with the children and families that are still fighting brought back many memories. Please join me in praying for them.
So, bottom line, it is ITP. He will have CBC every week at our pediatrican's office (that's just a finger poke though). ITP goes away in 85% of the kids that get it. We watch him for signs of low platelets, no Ibuprophen or Motrin and no sparring in Martial Arts, with the kids, he can do it with the instructor since he can control his moves. THAT bummed him out. We're counting our blessings BIG TIME. Thank you for the prayers. God is good, ALL the time.
Have a great weekend!
